A New Anchor

Looking at options to modernise my 50 year old anchor.

Problem

The anchor on Greenroom is a 50 year old rusted 5kg Danforth attached to 6m of chain and 30m of old orange nylon craypot rope. I don't trust it enough to sleep soundly at anchor and i don't want to be restricted to moorings.

The anchor well has a very small blocked drain hole that drains under the waterline.

The anchor well itself is not very deep and so holding an anchor and the amount of chain and rode I want will be a challenge.

The attachment point inside the anchor well is undersized for it's purpose. There is a horn cleat forward of the anchor well that is used at anchor but I don't want that to be the only way the anchor is securely attached.

Solution

Money (as always).

But seriously anchor tech has come a long way in 50 years and people rate Rocna anchors very highly. I need to replace my ground tackle anyway so ideally I'd like to upgrade to one of those.

Based on data from Rocna, my boat specifications, and not going with the absolute minimum I need:

A Danforth would make a fine reserve anchor and is in some ways better as it folds. For that I'd still like to replace my existing one as I don't trust the chain, or swivel or rode.
